Chapter 4

Safe & Sound

We are at the end of our journey. We traveled 3,406 miles to reach Virgina Beach. We arrived at Mr. K's house planning on staying two days. He talked us into a third and tried for the fourth. However, we knew each day would turn into another and we had to get on our way. He is such a gracious host and has a beautiful home. As always we enjoyed and loved every minute we spent with Joe and were sorry to leave.
Since I took his bread making machine with me, he will just have to visit us at the beach to get some home made bread. Motive to my madness, or his! *S* We enjoyed a visit with Joe's brother Steve and had Joe's son Adam over for supper the night of our *Last Supper*. Thanked Adam for coming over to visit and he stated he will visit anywhere there is food! We left that morning with the intention of arriving at the beach Wednesday evening however, *Ole Bessie* was tired.

She climbed all the hills she could at 40-45 miles per hour. The anticipation of crossing over Sky Line Drive at dusk and dark was not appealing to me. I convinced Jamie we should stay in Lexington, Virginia and get a good rest. I was not feeling too great and my nerves were not the best. We found an affordable motel and called Virginia to tell them we would be in on Thursday.

Shortly after my call the phone rang. My daughter informed me my second grandchild Tabitha could not wait to see me, so she and her mother, and my Brooke were driving to Lexington to have us follow them home the next morning. Upon their arrival at midnight we were thrilled to learn they had the stomach flu.
Oh yes, you can imagine the bathroom activity all evening long and into the morning. What should have been a 4 hour drive to the beach ended up being 7 hours and it was not cause *Ole Bessie* was tired.

We finally made it to LLM's house and Barry aka LLM put the camper in the back yard stating he was thrilled to have "Trailer Trsh" in his back yard. He helped us unload the camper and got the bed made and the camper cleaned, storing our things in his garage.

So, we are here, safe and sound. I will begin job hunting on Saturday and house hunting on Sunday and hope in time we will have a home other than the small camper.

We want to thank Chathouse for keeping our friends updated on our adventure. My love goes out to all of you that helped us along the way. All the support you have given us. This was a big step for us, leaving so much behind. You all made it much easier on us. More pictures will be added as we get them developed.
