Baby stuff.

Me

incidentally, pregnant lady farts are the worst, really, anyone who knows, KNOWS.

As you may or may not know, I am pregnant with my second child. I'm Due November 8th, so as I write this I am in my 21st week. I'm feeling pretty good, can't complain, although this kid is kicking and rolling around like crazy! that's not a complaint, I love it, it lets me know the little one is really there and I enjoy these little kicks and hiccups to no end :c)

When I first found out I was pregnant I was in shock for a full week. My husband and I had been trying for a year or more to conceive another child, I shouldn't have been all that surprised, but as much as I really wanted another baby, I had grown comfortable with it just being the 3 of us and the thought of going through it all again tired me greatly.

Once I finally started looking forward to having another child, being comfortable with the idea, I started bleeding one morning. My heart just absolutely sank. I went in and had an emergency ultrasound and as it turns out I had miscarried a twin. Apparently that's quite common- to lose a twin. I read online that some women bleed all through their pregnancies. I also read that a lot of pregnancies have "the disappearing twin" Not that that consoled me much, I couldn't stop worrying every time I went to the bathroom. but all is well, It made me want this little one more than ever and I'm still very much pregnant :c)

as far as the sex of the baby, we THINK it's a girl. we had the ultrasound a few weeks ago and the doctor said she is about 80% sure it's a girl. Apparently the little one is "sitting on her pee pee" as my 5 year old son likes to tell people, any people, people at Denny's.

names, argh, this is hard for me, naming my son was easy - Brian Taylor, but a girl? shit, I have 4 brothers, I'm married to a man and I have a son, I have 2 fathers and 3 uncles. what the hell do I know about girls!? I'm surrounded by penises. sigh, this distresses me to no end.

I've compiled a list of possibles though:

  • Cassidy (cas)
  • Madison (maddie)
  • Josie
  • Thia
  • Cleo
  • Evie
  • Sandra (sandy)
  • Peyton
  • Casey (cas)

The middle name has to be either Serene or June (family tradition)

My husband wants to name her Daisy, yeah, like that'll happen! he just wants to name her that so he can sing me that damned song again, you know the one.

"daisy, daisy, gimme your answer do, I'm half crazy, all for the love of you. we wont have a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage, but you'll look sweet, upon the seat, of a bicycle built for twoooo.

I hate that song. can you imagine? Daisy June!? argh!

Anyhow, it's late and I'm going to finish this damned book if it kills me (Irving's "A Son of the Circus"). I fear I'll be taking it to the hospital with me when this kid decides to see the world. Hey, I suppose I could always name her Dhar ;c)

Update:

Ok, so it's now late July and I am 6 months pregnant. whew, it's damned hot. I start sweating at 8 am these days. I can't seem to get over this '3 months left to go' hump. it seems as though I've been at 6 months for a year!

My neighbor wants to throw me a baby shower. It's so sweet of her, but really, I only have about 3 close friends, that's not much of a shower. Thankfully, she is big in the whole church scene so she has a group of ladies that are willing to come to my pathetic little party..hehe

Actually, as I made the list up of attendees, it's a bit larger than I had initially expected, so I think it'll be a good turn out. I went and registered at babies "r" us and have found that there is a world of stuff for little girls and the poor baby boys are either stuck with wearing corduroy or that funky baseball outfit. Needless to say I'm glad we're (hopefully) having a girl.

All of this baby stuff browsing has given me the urge to buy and has kicked up my nesting instincts to full blown nesting mania. I've since (it's been a day) cleaned out the guestroom, removed furniture and measured the room in preparation for a crib, a changing armoire a glider chair and baby lamp. I've decided on a country theme, complete with quilt patterns and border paper and I think I may have to paint.

(as my husband rolls his eyes, hands over the credit card and begs to not have to put this furniture together himself while casually mentioning that all babies really need is a nice box and maybe some newspaper to be happy, after all, baby Jesus was born among livestock and lived in a dirty manger for his first few days and look how well he turned out)

He thinks he's funny :c)

All in all, I'm getting excited, the baby is kicking a lot more than my son ever did and I'm growing more anxious to meet her and dress her in her tiny clothes.

The Crib

Me at 6 Months

Ok! so, I am now at 32 weeks and I gotta tell you, I am SO ready to not be pregnant anymore. We had the baby shower, and it surprisingly turned out to be a fun experience :) We're going for another ultrasound on Monday to see if we can get the sex of the baby pinned down and the baby room is all set we just need a few more blankets!

Wow, what a long strange trip that was! We went for the second ultrasound and the doctor did a routine cervical exam, turns out I was in labor! I had no idea, I would have just gone home and continued planting in my garden! No pain, nothing. She sent me to the hospital immediately and they hooked me up to a fetal monitor, sure enough, I was having regular contractions!

They gave me 2 shots to stop the labor (which didn't work) and then hooked me up to an IV with the most awful stuff ever. Pure magnesium! blah! I couldn't get a bead with my eyeballs and it made me hot as hell. It was like being drunk without the fun of it! Anyhow, my contractions didn't stop until about 3 am in the morning and they insisted on keeping me on that shit until well into the following day. All this and I didn't feel a thing! (except for the horrid effects from that IV.)

Anyhow, they gave me 2 shots (one in each ass cheek) to stimulate the babies growth, as it was, if she was born then her lungs wouldn't be fully developed.

It was a horrible experience,  but, all in all everything is a-OK. I'm no longer in labor and the baby is fine and oh yes, it IS a GIRL! :c)

Rhana (rah-nah) Serene is her name and she'll probably be born late and weigh 30 lbs..ha!

Here I am at 35 weeks, I am eating Tums like there is no tomorrow and sleeping is becoming something of the past. (frequent urination will do that to a body)

My best friend, Johnson, came out to visit from NY last week, she's also pregnant (due Jan. 1st) needless to say it was a very interesting 4 days! We had a blast, comparing complaints, moans and belly buttons :c)

6 more weeks to go! Can't be! There's not enough room!

Oct. 22nd, 2000 Rhana Serene was born at 1:06 in the afternoon. weighing in at 7 lbs. 2 oz's.

She was 2 weeks early, she came out in a rush of 4 hours labor and she is beautiful.
